On today’s episode, we have Ray Brehm. I have had the honor of working and collaborating with Ray on a couple of different books, summits, and projects he has been working on over the last year and we are both in the publishing space. It has been exciting to see him recently innovate and build the authorship and the virtual summit space and combine both of the techniques to help authors to help entrepreneurs and service providers really combine these for maximum success in both.
Ray Brehm is a bestselling author of more than ten books that motivate and educate entrepreneurs to write books and use them in their businesses or as their businesses. As a book launch and marketing strategist, Brehm has made it his mission to support entrepreneurs in creating businesses based on their true passions. He does this through his flagship programs BESTSELLER UNIVERSITY, which teaches how to publish a bestseller, and AUTHOR INC, on how to turn your book into a business.
Today we are going to hear about Ray’s great story and resources. We will be doing deep dives into different book strategies, talking about different books, how we are approaching authorship right now to grow our businesses, and a lot of what he is using to be so successful with virtual summits.
We discuss:
- [02:47] Ray shares about his defining moment.
- [05:36] He shares the story about a series of tough events that lead to him being in a funk.
- [06:58] He really loves helping entrepreneurs with the bottom line.
- [08:12] Things changed when Ray started taking baby steps forward, meditating, and saying affirmations.
- [10:10] His first summit actually earned him a lot of money, connections, and his email list catapulted.
- [12:09] If you want to make your money back from a book launch, do a summit. Some of his clients are actually creating summits to launch their book the week after the summit.
- [14:46] Books are like an online resume.
- [18:21] A book can share your expertise and show potential clients what you are able to help them achieve.
- [23:25] Summits are becoming a popular option, especially since the pandemic.
- [25:10] The first summit was tough, but he knew he needed to get that first one out of the way and learn as much as he could.
- [27:41] Ray automated the summit process so they could just focus on interviewing the guests.
- [28:50] There is a better chance you can recoup an investment on a summit by getting the right speakers on board.
- [29:29] With a book, you are investing in a title. With a summit, you are investing in income. You can run the summit again and still make money.
- [30:23] Ray will sometimes record the interview not knowing what summit it is going to yet. He likes to see how the conversation goes.
- [30:43] The best part of hosting a summit is that you get free coaching from all these people you ask to be on your summit.
- [32:39] If you get your first summit out of the way you are going to know who the key players are.
- [34:25] They look for speakers that are hustlers and will promote the summit.
- [36:41] Your audience doesn’t matter for your summit because you’re going to get speakers that have email lists.
- [39:23] If you’ve thought that your book didn’t perform as it should, that is because we have been told that our book is the breadwinner. Pairing it with a virtual summit gives you an excuse to reach out to other influencers who are going to share you with their audience and you can earn money and build your email list.
- [39:50] Done is better than perfect. The nature of virtual summits is that you can get help with the summit and still do well. Just investigate and try to get a summit done and improve your life.
