With almost two decades of experience in the film industry, She has helped clients like Subaru, MGM, and Paramount Pictures bring their vision to life on the big screen but found her passion in helping positive change-makers increase their impact with the power of storytelling.
We discuss:
- [02:12] Emmy shares about her defining moment. She shares a story about her mother.
- [03:53] After her mother passed away, she decided to leave the film industry and build a life and a business of her own.
- [06:11] She always tells her clients to never give up and keep going because sometimes we can’t see what’s beyond that horizon, but we need to push past that point to see, explore, and discover what is beyond there for us.
- [08:04] Jumping back and forth in time can be a powerful storytelling mechanism.
- [10:03] There are four main video archetypes that help us wrap our brain around where we can really start to showcase our natural personality and to use the types of videos that are supportive of our business model.
- [10:42] When you lean into your strengths and use the types of videos that best fit your personality, that is when you can really shine.
- [10:59] The first video archetype is the lover. The lover is all about creativity and self-expression. They really shine with live demos, candid chats, and vulnerable shares.
- [12:12] The second video archetype is the sovereign. The sovereign has a clear vision of what they want to create.
- [14:42] A sovereign shines with pep talks and helping their audience decide and create plans.
- [15:05] The next archetype is the magician. The magician takes raw material and turns them into value.
- [16:41] Magicians shine when they are showing their processes and behind the scenes action. It can work to show your creative process and not yourself on camera.
- [16:55] Finally we have the warrior archetype.
- [18:04] The warrior archetype protects the boundaries and makes decisions to enforce those boundaries. They have a natural tendency to be able to build trust with others.
- [18:57] Great warrior type videos are insights on how to navigate trends, behind the scenes, and interviews.
- [22:31] It is really important to remember that you want to be sharing videos and social content where your audience is at. Do some research and find out where your audience is.
- [23:24] How do we uncover which archetype to work with? Generally, we will have a natural residence with one or two of them so go with that.
- [24:14] Often the shadow archetypes and peoples’ resistances and fears lead people to the archetypes.
- [26:21] Look at where your triggers are. That points to your shadow archetype and from there you can identify what the light archetype is to guide you back on track.
- [28:48] The shadow archetype, Sabortor is linked to time and not having enough time.
- [31:54] It is important that your videos look and feel like you.
- [33:26] How the music on your video sounds can change how the video is viewed and perceived by your viewers. It is important to incorporate something that is visually interesting and not so commonly seen within the first ten seconds.
- [35:29] Emmy shares a movie that does sound really well so we can look at it to share the techniques in our own stories.
- [38:18] They use music to amplify the story that is being told at that moment. So when you are creating your own videos think about the emotion that you want your audience to feel and look for a soundtrack that fits that.
